hi all new here and also new to diesel tuning ,i know this is possibly covered already but cant seem to find what im looking for ,got a new focus 3 months ago 90ps version ,with all this talk of dpf and vnt turbo's just wondering if mine has a dfp ant a vnt turbo ,reason being i want to turn up the boost by shorting the actuators arm by 1-2 turns before i get it mapped down the road and also pull out the cat at some point.......diesel are new to me previous cars 2.o sri veccy and 98 gt4 running light mods to circa 300bhp.....but i might aswel be looking up a ducks arse here, lost......thanks all

That depends... Is it a version with reduced co² emissions, then yes, you will have a VNT and DPF...
If not, most likely wastegated turbo. Don't know if it'll have a DPF or not then.
Turning the rod is a BIG NONO on modern ECU controlled turbo's... :o

Hi mate,

Welcome to the forum!

You actually would never have to shorten the actuator arm, because the boost is all controlled in the mapping, even if it wasn't a VNT one!

Best bet is to get the DPF taken off (if it does have one) at an exhaust place, then go and get a decent map on it which will overwrite the DPF warning light and release more power!

ahh ,right might be best waiting ..going to try and fit a bigger fmic off say an st( if it fits ) then go for remap ,should get more results , will a good remap hit circa 115-120 from a standard 90 ps engine ,biggest prob i have is getting a descent remapper im living accross the pond ,so may have to take weekend break or that to come over ,im very fussy about my cars ,i'll only allow someone good working on 'em...thanks

All the newer 1.6 and 2.0 focus diesels are fitted with the ST cooler as standard

cool ,so my fmic will support an upgrade turbo down the road too....really starting to like my oil burner. thats a good hp increase for just a remap..should be well drivable like that.....thanks all p.s. ,will upload some pic's when ever i get the st wheels and a drop put on =D> her
